I love this Book. My Mama made it for me as a child, and I've kept it over the years, hoping one day to pass it on to my own little one. My mother has made so many wonderful things, but not all have survived. I'm so glad this did! It needs some TLC every once in a while (currently it needs a new binding ribbon!), but it's well made and well-loved, and has stood the test of time.
When I was sorting through LB's toys, putting items into educational categories, I realized that this fit perfectly into "Practical Life"---I was wondering how to ever find something with all the snaps, zippers, etc. that I liked and could afford. I was STOKED to realize that I already had the perfect item. Right now, of course, LB enjoys the animals and textures, and I will model the tying and buttoning, etc., for her. Below are the individual pages that I just had to show off! I was a blessed little girl to have a Mama who made things like this. :)
Mr. Goose is up first, and I need to make new Fish to put on this hook and eye fishing line.
Mr. Crocodile was one of my very favorites when I was little---I used to love making him lick the ice cream cone with his big ol' tongue!
Mrs. Kanga and Little Roo, who fits into the little buckle pouch. Little Roo has gotten so much love over the years, and LB is enchanted with this little guy.
Mr. Turtle is missing his bouquet of flowers, but still has a big heart. I used to fancy that he was in love, perhaps with Miss Ellie-Phant?
Pretty Ellie-Phant on her roller skates!
For some reason Mr. Bear was my least favorite as a kid, but LB love him. Definitely because he's a bear!!
Googly-eyed Mr. Hippo. Big heart....bigger mouth. This is who LB imitates when she makes her Hippo "sound". Head back, mouth open in a big ol' Hippo roar!
